Privacy Policy

Short version: almost everything Chaos HUD does happens on your own PC. We keep who you are, whether you have a licence, and your payments. Nothing else. Chaos Creations (Cpt. Ch405), Portugal, is responsible for this data: support@cptchaos.com.

1. What stays on your PC

Your chat, alerts, settings, layout, commands, sounds and the app's own Twitch sign-in stay on your PC. The sign-in is encrypted to your Windows account. None of it is sent to us.

2. What we collect

The licence check: each time Chaos HUD starts it sends us its Twitch sign-in and its version number. We use the sign-in only to ask Twitch who it is, and don't keep it. We keep your Twitch user ID, username, the version, how many times it has started, and when it last did.
Signing in on this site: your Twitch user ID, username, display name and profile picture, and a cookie that keeps you signed in. We ask Twitch for no permissions here, only who you are.
Your licence and payments: whether you have a licence and its status. Payment is handled by Stripe, which collects your email address and card details. We receive a Stripe customer and subscription reference, never your card number. The waiver wording you agreed to at checkout, and when, is stored with your subscription.
Server logs: IP address, browser and pages requested, for security and fixing problems.

If you send us your log from the app's Support page, we'll see what's in it: what the app has been doing, with no sign-ins or passwords. We only use it to help you.

3. Why we use it

To check your licence and run the subscription you've bought. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
To take payments and keep billing records. Legal basis: contract, and our legal obligations for tax and accounting.
To keep Chaos HUD secure and to spot a licence being shared. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

4. Who we share it with

Twitch: to sign you in and check who a sign-in belongs to. Twitch privacy notice

Our server provider: our dedicated server is in Falkenstein, Germany, where this data is stored.
Google Fonts: these pages load a font from Google, which receives your IP address when it loads. Google privacy policy

We don't share your data with anyone else unless the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

Your licence record: while you have a licence, and afterwards so it's there if you come back. Email us any time and we'll delete it.
Billing records: as long as tax law requires (in Portugal, normally up to 10 years).
Website sign-ins: 30 days. Server logs: up to 90 days. Backups: up to 30 days.

6. Keeping it safe

Data is stored on our own server with access limited to us, files are readable only by the system itself, and connections are encrypted (HTTPS).

7. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to move it elsewhere. Email support@cptchaos.com and tell us your Twitch name. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to your local data protection authority; in Portugal that's the CNPD (cnpd.pt).

8. Children

Chaos HUD is meant for streamers aged 18 and over (or younger with a parent or guardian's agreement).

9. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll show it on this site before it applies.
