What's kept

Chaos Tools runs no tracking, analytics or adverts.

If you sign in with Twitch

Signing in asks Twitch for no permissions beyond who you are. To estimate your usual viewers before you've been caught streaming, it then reads your channel's public follower count, the view counts of your recent past broadcasts, and whether you are live, the same figures anyone can see on Twitch. It stores your Twitch id, username, display name and channel language, and when you first and last signed in. They are used only to tailor the pages to your channel. The sign-in token Twitch provides is thrown away straight after use, so Chaos Tools can never act on your account.

A single cookie keeps you signed in for 30 days. It is set only when you choose to sign in, and signing out removes it.

To have your sign-in record deleted, contact CPT. CHAOS through cptchaos.com.

If you connect Steam

Connecting Steam goes through Steam's own sign-in page; your Steam password is never seen here. It stores your Steam id, your Steam name, and the list of games in your library with hours played, and refreshes them about once a day. It reads the list only if your Steam "Game details" are public. Press Disconnect Steam on the Account page and your Steam id and library are deleted straight away.

If you turn on stream reports

Turning on stream reports asks Twitch for two read-only permissions: the list of people in your chat, and your followers. That token is stored encrypted and is only used while you stream. While you are live it records, minute by minute, your viewer count, how many chat messages were sent and by how many people, who was signed in with your chat open and for how long, and follows, subs, gifted subs, bits and raids, with your stream's title and category. It can't post, change anything on your channel, or see anything private.

Your reports are shown only to you. Viewers' Twitch names appear in them because they were in your chat; they are never shown to anyone else or used for anything but your reports. Press Turn off on the Account page to stop recording and have Twitch forget the permission, or Turn off and delete everything to also delete every report recorded so far.

If you connect Discord

Connecting Discord stores the webhook address you paste, encrypted, and uses it only to post the messages you ticked in that one channel. Press Disconnect on the Account page and it is deleted straight away. You can also delete the webhook in Discord at any time, which stops it working everywhere.

Raids

Raids are public on Twitch. To show raid habits in the raid finder, Chaos Tools records raids sent by the channels it watches (who raided whom, when, and with how many viewers) from Twitch's public raid events. Nothing else about anyone's channel is recorded this way. If you'd like your channel left out, contact CPT. CHAOS through cptchaos.com.

Everyone else

Without signing in, no cookies are set at all.

Like any website, the server keeps a standard access log (the address a request came from, the page asked for, and the time) to keep the site running and stop abuse. Those logs are rotated and not shared.

The numbers shown come from the public Twitch directory: how many viewers each live channel has, in which category and language. If you are a streamer and want your channel left out, contact CPT. CHAOS through cptchaos.com.
